Lil' Jimmy Reed is the last of the original Louisiana bluesmen. Born Leon Atkins in Hardwood, LA in 1938, he grew up across from a Chitlin' Circuit club. He was exposed to the music of the early blues masters at a young age and cut his teeth on the Baton Rouge music scene. I'm always reluctant to buy a blues record on vinyl. not this time. I Needed it the moment I heard what was going on. everything about it is amazing and you should trust fat possum(they're doing their best) it's not gimmicky at all.

This is as close to sitting in a room with a master blues legend and have them perform just for you. Black Key's Dan Auerbach produced this superb set of performances from the 60's. Just man and guitar, blues does not get more pure or real. A must for true blues fans, and best archival release of 2022.
